2023/24 COLLECTION

Orlando Dugi’s new work finds inspiration in the mystery and wonder of the night. In this magical collection, material is metaphor. Sequins and beads become constellations; a pleated skirt becomes shifting light. Utilizing intensive hand work techniques including weaving, beadwork and embroidery, each ensemble tells a nocturnal story. Dugi employs color, texture, pattern, translucence and exquisite surface detail to capture the nuances of nighttime. The garments are reminiscent of the way one’s eyes adjust in the darkness, the glitter of Yikáísídáhí (the Milky Way), the subtle changing luminosity at dawn and dusk, the cool glow of the moon, and the sensation of sleeping under the stars.
